Singapore Sign Language 101: An Introduction Into The Deaf World (NOV 2021)

SYNOPSIS
Deaf Introductory Workshop (for Public): One-session introductory workshop conducted to allow those who are new to the deaf community to have better insights.

During the 2 hours' online sharing session, the participants will gain their hands-on experiences through various activities.
The workshop will be facilitated by an ACLP-certified Deaf person, who had at least 15 years of experience using sign language, and actively involved in the Deaf community.

The participants can expect the imparting of the knowledge skills and basic signing skills, and at the same time, having fun together with the rest of the participants.

LEARNING OUTCOME
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Gain a better insight into Deafness, Community, Culture and Language in Singapore.

  • Demonstrate the ability to fingerspell/spell basic alphabets and numbers in Singapore Sign Language (SgSL).

  • Demonstrate the ability to speak common basic conversations in Singapore Sign Language (SgSL).
